James Vesely has opined that cyclists in King County should pay a $25 license fee for all the wonderful things that have been done for them. This idea deserves to be vigorously shot down wherever it appears.
Not only have cyclists already been paying for those wonderful things in exactly the same way as everyone else, car drivers should be reminded that every cyclist is one less competitor at the gas pump or the parking space.
We have every reason to believe that cyclists are a very important part of a vibrant transit rich and energy frugal urban environment. Even if you don’t ride a bike, it is in the national interest to get your back up and protest strongly when anti-bike measures are proposed.
