KC Metro Brain Teaser

Consider Route #2:

http://metro.kingcounty.gov/tops/bus/schedules/s002_2_.html

There is a route leaving from Downtown to Madrona Park at 1:28 am on Saturday nights / sunday morning. So on Nov 02, 2008 we all fell back an hour. So at 2 am, it magically became 1 am again. So the question is: is there a second trip at the second 1:30 am on that day?

Even better, Route #174: (always my favorite)

http://metro.kingcounty.gov/tops/bus/schedules/s174_1_.html

On Saturday night / Sunday morning, there is a 174 that leaves from downtown at 2:15am. But on when you spring forward in March, there is no 2:15 am (time jumps from 2 am to 3am). So does this route even run?

Something to ponder.

Metro stays on standard or daylight time on the morning until all owl buses have run. Morning buses run on the new time zone. Here’s what Metro alerted customers last March:

For Metro Transit passengers, it means planning ahead if you will be traveling by bus late night on Saturday, March 10 or early morning on Sunday, March 11. If you ride the bus Saturday night, including 2:15 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. “Night Owl” trips, wait to set your clocks ahead until after you are done riding buses for the night.

All Metro trips leaving bus bases on Sunday morning operate on Daylight Saving Time. If you are planning to ride Sunday morning service, be sure to set your clock ahead on Saturday night.

The wording is still ambiguous on whether Saturday night includes anything running on Sunday early morning that’s not the first run of the day.
