MattY on Buses

Matt Yglesias asks why we shouldn’t have fewer bus routes with more buses on each route, and an interesting discussion follows.

Seattle seems to be an special offender here. Bus routes will join a major avenue for a while and then wander off, seemingly at random, into some cul-de-sac. Why not load the major thoroughfares with fast buses and cross those routes with feeders?
