Transit Projects in '08
Mike Lindblom has put together a great summary of what transit projects are in the works for 2008 and beyond. It's a fairly comprehensive list: King County ferries, new HOV lanes opening in Everett, Bellevue, and Mercer Island, a Sounder stop in Mukilteo, and much, much more.
While construction continues on these projects, we'll also be debating the future of Sound Transit in the aftermath of Prop. 1. It should be quite an interesting year, and we're excited to keep the conversation going here on this blog and elsewhere.
And thanks for reading in 2007!
P.S: the Wilburton Trestle is coming down in August, so I don't have to worry about ever riding my bike across it.

What a shame! As a kid I learned about climbing on trestles- namely, not to do it- just by going eight feet up on that trestle and getting back down. I also learned that some trains came at reasonably predictable times and made a grand sight crossing the trestle- presto! trainwatching!
That trestle has been hailed as very big, and I certainly wonder just how much viable rail right-of-way you have left if they are allowed to take down the trestle. A replacement that matches the grade of the existing roadbed won't be cheap.
The fact is, the highway department is taking this opportunity to avoid replacing a bridge over 405 and the railroad is taking the opportunity to finally get rid of what must have been a maintenance headache. This may be for the best, but I'll miss that old trestle.
